Neighbors got up early to pitch in and help clean up the grounds around Scott Montgomery Elementary School on August 25. While neighbors worked outside, Principal Melissa Martin worked inside with her staff and DCPS contractors to prepare things on the inside of the building for the new year. This included the conversion of the old school office into a new computer lab available for parents to be able to use throughout the year to stay connected with school activities and the work their children are doing. There's always more work to do, so if you have any free time, consider stopping by the school to see how you might volunteer.
After the clean up, there were fun neighborhood parties at Second Northwest Co-Op and on Warner Street where folks could sit back, eat, drink and enjoy one of the last weekends of summer break.
